Its a new day my friend, the elections are over and I have lost my bid to become Mayor of Toronto. The issues facing the people of Toronto still exist and will continue to persist until the new council gets down to work and remedies the problems left in the wake of David Millers deliberate mistakes.
Just to begin this new blog let us look at the money "we" must pay to the retiring, incumbent mayor and city councilors who have lost their seats in the last election and those who have resigned. This amounts to over a $1 Million; a golden parachute that was voted in by Toronto city councillors to feather their nests at the taxpayers expense. Will the Mayor elect Rob Ford accept this "highway robbery" of the public purse; will he stop these payments or simply ignore them? I believe we all know the answer to that question. So much for good solid business management that Mr. Ford has been talking about in his campaign.
Metropolitan Toronto Police are in the courts over their criminal act and breaches of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms regarding their actions during the G20 and G8 conference. We have heard nothing from Mr. Ford on the future of Chief Bill Blair. We have heard that Mr. Ford will add 100 new police officers to a force that not only is dysfunctional but costs the taxpayer 10% of our yearly budget. This does not include the legal costs and judicial dollar judgments yet to be awarded to claimants under the "Charter"(G20).
Mr. Ford was earlier charged by Toronto police for assaulting his wife; however this was dismissed due to "conflicting testimony". Thank you Chief Blair! Recently, there was a matter of Mr. Ford offering to buy illegal drugs for a constituent in a taped telephone conversation. This is still under investigation by Toronto police pending the conclusion of the election (I guess). Now Mr. Ford is a defendant in a defamation case before the courts. I ask Mr Ford, "Will 100 new police officers satisfy, pay your debt to Chief Blair or will the taxpayer continue to pay for your mental lapses in good judgement?"
Mr. Ford will be "kissing Bill Blair's ass" for the next four years and we will be pay the freight!
Have a great day my friends!
Barry Goodhead
